Column Tray Rating

Details for existing trays are entered in this window. All trays in the defined section are assumed to have identical details. The only data item which you must supply is the tray diameter. All other data have defaults. See Tray Calculations for more details.

Usage

From the Column Tray and Packing Hydraulics Window, define a column section in the table, select Trays as the Internals and select the Rating option in the Calculation Type drop-down list box.

Push the corresponding Enter Data button to enter column tray rating information for the selected column section.

Tray Data

Select the tray Type in the drop-down list box:

VALVE(V1) : GLITSCH type V1 valve trays

VALVE(V4) : GLITSCH type V4 valve trays

SIEVE : Sieve trays

CAP : Bubble cap trays

When a tray Type is selected, the appropriate tray data options become available.

Provide the tray Diameter, Spacing, Deck Thickness, System Loading Factor and Number Of Flow Paths. See Column Tray Data for more information on these entries.

Valve/Cap/Sieve Data

Enter the Valve/Cap/Sieve Data in the appropriate fields. The number of devices per tray is estimated when not supplied. See Tray Type Data for more information on Valve/Cap/Sieve Data.

Downcomer

Downcomer data include the Weir Height and downcomer Clearance. See Column Downcomer for more information on these entries.

Downcomer Widths

The entries required depend on the number of flow paths (passes) specified for the trays and whether the downcomers are straight or sloped. See Column Downcomer Widths for additional information on downcomers.

Perform Tray Rating Calculations

Select the desired Tray Rating Calculation Option by clicking on the appropriate radio button. Normally, rating calculations are performed after completion of all flowsheet calculations. See Rating at Output or Calculation Time for description of the options.

Click RATEFRAC options … to pop up Column - RATEFRAC Tray Options dialog box.
