Column Downcomer

Downcomer and weir height data are entered in these fields for the Type of tray selected in the Column Tray Rating Window.

Weir Height

Overflow weir height above the tray. For valve and sieve trays a default value of 2.0 inches or 50.8 millimeters is used. Bubble cap tray defaults are:

Clearance

Clearance from the bottom of the downcomer to the tray deck of the receiving tray. Default value is weir height minus 0.5 inch or 12.7 millimeters, i.e., a 0.5 inch or 12.7 millimeter liquid seal is assumed.
