Column Tray Data
Basic data for the Type of tray selected in the Column Tray Rating Window are entered in these fields:
Tray Type
PRO/II can model four types of trays:
VALVE(V1) : GLITSCH type V1 valve trays ( Flat orifice)
VALVE(V4) : GLITSCH type V4 valve trays ( Extruded orifice)
SIEVE : Sieve trays
CAP : Bubble cap trays
Diameter
The diameter of the tray.
Spacing
The vertical spacing between adjacent trays. The default value is 24 inches or 610 mm.
Deck Thickness
The tray deck thickness. Valid options may be selected in the drop-down list.
System Loading Factor
A loading factor used to derate the flooding condition. As the system loading factor decreases from unity, the flooding is increased for a given loading to correspond to foaming on the tray. See System Loading Factors for typical values.
Number of Flow Paths
The number of flow paths or "passes" for liquid through the trays. Select a number from 1 through 5 with the drop-down list. See Flow Paths for drawings of the flow path options.
Note: The allowed Number of Flow Paths is 1 for the RATEFRAC algorithm.
Active Area
The area allowed for the passage of vapor on each tray is called the active tray area. Enter the Active Area for the selected tray type.
Click RATEFRAC options… to pop up Column - RATEFRAC Tray Options dialog box.
