Property Library Manager - Technical Information
The Property Library Manager is used to create customized libraries. These libraries may contain data banks of pure component properties and/or binary interaction data for liquid activity methods or equations of state.
Note: A User Library may contain more than one data bank.
Most physical property and thermodynamic data requirements are met using the SimSci data libraries. You may want to use the Property Library Manager to create a component library when:
- you need properties missing from the SimSci libraries
- you want to avoid having to enter the same component and/or thermodynamic data for several simulations
- you want to make specific property data mandatory for a project
Data banks in a User Library defined using the Property Library Manager will appear in the search order on the Component Databank Search Order Window and the Thermodynamic Databank Search Window where you may specify that your data banks should be used instead of, or as well as, the SimSci databanks.
Before using the Property Library Manager program you must specify properties and methods as follows:
Select any required library components and specify any user-defined components in the Component Selection Main Window.
Enter any of your own pure component property data using the Component Properties Main Window. You may enter data for user-defined components or override data for library components.
The PROVISION graphical user interface does not allow users to directly enter binary interaction data into the User Library that you are creating. The library may contain this information, but you must use a text editor to enter the data. Refer to the LIBMGR and COMPS Users’ Guide for the proper syntax and input conventions. Components picked from password protected libraries are not shown in the ”Available Components” list box in PRO/II - Property Library Manager Window.
The user libraries are created from the Property Library Manager Main Window as follows:
Select the required components and set up data files containing the required component properties.
Check the Create User Component Library box to indicate that a library is to be created.
Supply the name for a driver file (default USER.DAT) which will contain all the information about the data libraries to be created.
Specify the names of libraries to be created and which of the component data files are to be included in each.
Push the Create USER Data Library button to create the user library and save the driver file details.
Push the Thermo Data Manager (TDM) button to launch the TDM GUI where you can register your libraries.
