The Component Name/Alias list box (in the Component Selection window) displays all components added from the Component Selection group box. This includes components added from windows opened by the Select from Lists..., Petroleum..., User-Defined..., and Polymer... buttons. Note: Pseudo-components generated from petroleum assay data do not appear in this list box.
Each entry in this list box includes:
Component input order number (i.e. the print order number),
Component Identifier (text name), and
Databank search order.
Custom Search Order for Individual Components
Components added using the default databank search order display ”DEFAULT” for their search order. Components added using a custom databank search order display the appropriate databank search order. The search order may be different for each individual component. A custom databank search order for a single component may be set by following this procedure:
Highlight a component by clicking it in the Component Name/Alias list.
In the Edit List group box on the right, press the Databank ... button to open the Databank Search Order dialog.
Enter databanks in the desired order in the Current Search Order list box.
Press OK to save the search order and return to Component Selection.
Observe the search order for the selected component changed in the Component Name/Alias list.
Populating the Current Search Order list creates a custom search order for the component, even if the list of libraries to search exactly matches the default order. To fully restore the default search order, press the Restore Default button.
Note: Petroleum, User defined, polymer, assay, and polymer pseudo-components do not exist in the libraries and so they do not use the databank search order. Their entries for databank search order remain blank.
Manipulating the Component List
Starting from version 5.5, a Reorder List group box appears to the right of the List of Selected Components. The four buttons, Top, Up, Down, and Bottom, allow components to be reordered. It no longer is necessary to delete and insert components to reorder them. Simply highlight one or more components by single-clicking on them in the list; then press the desired button to reorder those components appropriately. PRO/II takes care of all the necessary "book-keeping" behind the scenes. This means the integrity of pre-existing component-related generalized specifications is fully maintained.
Reordering the Components based on NBP, MW, and Internal Order
Starting from version 9.1.1, the buttons NBP order, MW order, and Internal Order appears to the right of the List of Selected Components along with the buttons Top, Up, Down, and Bottom. Clicking on NBP Order (Normal Boiling Point) will reorder all the components based on NBP in increasing order. Clicking on MW Order (Molecular weight) will reorder all the components based on MW in increasing order. Clicking on Internal Order will change the components into internal Order.
When the buttons Petroleum Components, Polymer Components, Databank Hierarchy, Component Phases, Databank, User-defined components in the Component Selection DEW are clicked, NBP, MW, and Internal order buttons will be disabled. They will be enabled after you click OK in this window and open the DEW again.
Alias Component Names
Each component identifier (used to locate components in libraries) may be replaced with an alias (i.e., a descriptive "print" name) by highlighting the component in the list box and pressing the Rename button.
Remove Components
Any component may be deleted from the list box by highlighting it and pushing the Delete button. See Actions on Selected Components for more information on renaming and deleting components.
