Standard Conditions Window

Access (two separate windows):

Problem Standard Conditions Window

Use the Problem Standard Condition window to set the values for the current simulation.

or

Global Default for Standard Conditions Window

Use the Global Default for Standard Conditions window to set default values for use in this and subsequent simulations.

Description

Use these windows to specify the standard vapor conditions. Specify either a standard vapor volume, or supply the standard pressure and temperature values.

Note that different vapor conditions can be specified for each Units of measure (UOM) set defined in the Units of Measure library. The global defaults (for input data and output report) are automatically set for all the simulation problems by the default UOM sets selected through the global Default Sets of Units of Measure. These can be overridden for an individual problem using the Default Units of Measure for Problem Data Input Window and Problem Default Units of Measure for Output Report Window for input data and output reports, respectively.

Usage

The calculated Standard Vapor Volume value is displayed by using the standard temperature and pressure when the check box is ON.

Standard Temperature and Pressure

These entries specify the temperature and pressure used to calculate the standard molar vapor volume. The default temperature is 60 F (English) or 0.0 C (metric, SI) and the default pressure is 1.0 atmosphere.

Standard Volume (of a Vapor or Gas)

This is the volume occupied by one mole of vapor at standard temperature and pressure. The default values are:

English : 379.48 ft3/lb mole at 60 F, 1.0 atmosphere

Metric, SI : 22.414 m3/kg mole at 0.0 C, 1.0 atmosphere (metric, SI)

Note: Standard conditions for liquid properties are different from standard vapor conditions.

The default standard conditions for liquid properties are:

Liquid molar volume Default standard conditions are 1.0 atmosphere at 77F (25C).

Standard liquid volume Standard conditions are 1.0 atmosphere at 60F (15.55555C).

Standard liquid density Standard conditions are 1.0 atmosphere at 60F (15.55555C).

Specific gravity              Standard conditions are 1.0 atmosphere at 60F (15.55555C).

Users should be aware that standard conditions for liquid molar volume are different than standard conditions for a vapor or for liquid density.
