Transport System

This option box provides a convenient means to select a system of transport methods for the simulation. The boxes for Viscosity Methods, Thermal Conductivity Methods and Surface Tension Method listed in the Override Methods section are all filled in by default using the specified Transport System. Individual methods selected in this fashion may always be overridden as desired in the Thermodynamics - Transport Properties Window.

Options are as follows:

Pure Component Averages

This option calculates liquid and vapor viscosities, liquid and vapor thermal conductivities and vapor-liquid surface tensions using the appropriate average of pure component values from the library.

Petroleum Correlations

This option calculates liquid and vapor viscosities, liquid and vapor thermal conductivities and vapor-liquid surface tensions using generalized methods for hydrocarbons. These are not available with Electrolyte Models.

TRAPP Correlations

This option calculates liquid and vapor viscosities and liquid and vapor thermal conductivities with the TRAPP method developed by the National Bureau of Standards primarily for light hydrocarbons. Vapor-liquid surface tensions are computed with the Petroleum Correlations.

Tacite

This option calculates liquid and vapor viscosities using Lohrenz-Bray-Clark equations, liquid and vapor thermal conductivities using Petroleum Correlations, and liquid surface tension by a Parachor method. When the Tacite thermodynamics system is selected,  the transport system automatically changes to Tacite by default.

User-added Methods

This option specifies that liquid and vapor Viscosities, liquid and vapor Thermal Conductivities and liquid Surface Tensions will be calculated with a User-added subroutine (UTRAN1 - UTRAN5) that has been linked into PRO/II.

Specify Individually

Transport methods are to be selected individually with the boxes for Viscosity Methods, Thermal Conductivity Methods and Surface Tension Method.
