Column Condenser
Specific information pertaining to the distillation column condenser is entered in this window. The condenser is always defined as a heat sink on tray one.
Usage
From the Column Main Window, push the Condenser button.
Check the "Column with Condenser" selection to activate the data entry fields.
Select the appropriate Condenser Type option.
The Condenser Pressure defaults to that of the top tray if not supplied. A Condenser Temperature Estimate may be supplied for a partial or bubble point condenser. For a subcooled condenser, the Condenser Fixed Temperature or Condenser - Degrees Subcooled is required.
The Condenser Duty is usually varied to meet a performance specification. See Column Specifications and Variables for further information. If it is not varied, the duty is fixed at the value entered on this window.
The dimensional units may be changed by using the Unit-Of-Measure Selection Window, which is displayed when the UOM button on the Toolbar is pushed.
Alternately, the condenser pressure may be referenced using the Define system relative to any available unit operation or stream parameter calculated elsewhere in the simulation.
If the RATEFRAC algorithm is selected in the column main window, the user can select the options listed under Subcooled Reflux only. This option is made available to user only if you have selected Partial or Bubble Temperature under Condenser Type.
Fixed Temperature
Fixed Temperature Drop
The user can provide either the Reflux Temperature or the Degrees Subcooled Reflux. If the Subcooled fixed temperature or Subcooled fixed temperature drop are selected the subcooling reflux options are not allowed.
