Introduction to PRO/II and TDM Integration

Physical and Thermodynamic data of a chemical component has a profound impact on the design and operation of a unit operation in a process industry. PRO/II uses component data stored in component data libraries within database files. In the past, users prepared data using older programs (REGRESS and DATAPREP) that now are obsolete. The Thermodynamic Data Manager (TDM) replaces their functionality. Using TDM, users can:

Integration of the current version of PRO/II with the Thermodynamic Data Manager provides the following advantages to all PRO/II users.

In keyword input files, the newly added libraries and databank names in TDM can be recognized by Library Name:Databank Name.

The Component Selection and Thermodynamic Data - Databank Search Order dialog boxes allow viewing the new TDM libraries as well as existing libraries and databank names. Users can select and add any displayed libraries to the current simulation. For components with multiple databank search order and cascading ON, PRO/II will print ”PROT” in the entire row (of Fixed Properties and Temperature dependant Properties Windows) even if one of the property is from a password protected library.

Note: Refer to the Thermodynamic Data Manager User Guide for a detailed explanation of its functionality and operation.
