Tray Efficiency Data
Efficiency data are entered by tray in this window and are applied to all components on the tray. The efficiencies for trays not supplied but bracketed by trays with supplied efficiencies are set by interpolation. Trays for which efficiency data are not supplied and which are not bracketed by trays with supplied efficiencies are assigned an efficiency of 1.0. The tray efficiencies for specific components on a tray may be changed from the global tray value using the Column Component Tray Efficiency Data Window.
Usage
From the Column Main Window, push the Tray Efficiencies button.
From the Column Tray Efficiency Window, select the desired option for the "Type of Efficiencies Specified".
Enter a "Tray Efficiency Scale Factor" if desired.
Push the Efficiency Data button to display the Tray Efficiency Data Window.
From the Tray Efficiency Data Window, check the "Add Tray Efficiency Data" option to initiate data entry.
Enter tray numbers and corresponding efficiencies in the table provided. Note that efficiencies are considered to be provided for ranges of trays. Therefore, trays which do not have supplied efficiencies but are bracketed by trays with supplied values are assigned values determined by linear interpolation. Trays which do not have supplied values and are not bracketed by trays with supplied values are assigned efficiencies of 1.0. The condenser and reboiler trays are always assigned efficiencies of 1.0.
Tray efficiency data are considered to apply to all components on the tray. Individual component efficiencies may be changed from the global values in the table by pushing the Modify Component Tray Efficiencies button to display the Column Component Tray Efficiency Data Window.
See Editing Tabular Data for more information on the entry and editing of tabular data.
