Column Component Tray Efficiency Data

Tray efficiencies for individual components are provided using this window. If global tray efficiencies have been provided in the Tray Efficiency Data Window, the global values are selectively replaced with the component tray efficiencies entered in this window.

Usage

From the Column Main Window, press the Tray Efficiencies button.

From the Column Tray Efficiency Window, select the desired option for "Type of Efficiencies Specified".

Enter a "Tray Efficiency Scale Factor" if desired.

Push the Efficiency Data button to enter tray efficiency data.

Check the "Add Tray Efficiency Data" option in the Tray Efficiency Data Window.

Global tray efficiencies may be entered at this point if desired using the tabular form provided.

Push the Modify Component Tray Efficiencies button to select the Column Component Tray Efficiency Data Window.

Use the drop-down list boxes to select the components for which tray efficiency data are being entered. By default, the Component Tray Efficiency Table has rows for four components and columns for four trays. The tray numbers are entered in the top row of the table. Component tray efficiencies are entered in horizontal rows under the appropriate tray numbers. More rows and columns may be added to the table as needed by using the tabular editing features. See Editing Tabular Data for information on input and editing of tabular data.

Component tray efficiencies are considered to be provided for ranges of trays. Therefore, trays which do not have supplied component efficiencies but are bracketed by trays which have supplied component efficiencies are assigned component efficiencies by linear interpolation. Trays which do not have supplied values and are not bracketed by trays with supplied values are assigned component efficiencies of 1.0. The condenser and reboiler are always assigned component tray efficiencies of 1.0 for all components.

Components with tray efficiencies not supplied in this window and not supplied globally in the Tray Efficiency Data Window are assigned tray efficiencies of 1.0.
