Stream Calculator Pseudoproduct Specifications

Use this window to specify the amount of each component in the created pseudoproduct stream. The thermal condition of the pseudoproduct is defined in the Pseudoproduct Conditions Window.

Usage

From the Stream Calculator Main Window, push the Pseudoproduct Specifications button to open this window.

In order to define the pseudoproduct, you must enter specifications which define how much of each component is in the product. You may require several specifications to do this. At least one specification is required. Any component which does not appear in a specification will be set to zero in the pseudoproduct.

See Generalized Performance Specification Overview for more information about working with linked-text specifications.

Specifications are entered in the table by clicking on the highlighted texts which are described below :

Spec1

The default reference name for the specification which may be replaced with a unique name.

Rate

If there is a feed to the unit, the specification may be on:

the flow rate of the selected component(s) in the pseudoproduct

the fractional recovery of the selected component(s) from the blended feed

the composition of the selected component(s) in the pseudoproduct stream

If the unit has no feed, you may only specify the component flow rates.

Components

Clicking on this text opens the Component Selections Window where you select the component, or range of contiguous components, for the specification.

Value

Enter the numeric value of the rate, recovery or composition for the selected component(s) in the pseudoproduct.

Note: If you enter a composition specification for every component, PRO/II will give an input error because this does not define the product rate. You must specify at least one component rate or recovery.

Alternatively, instead of entering a numeric value for some of the parameters, they may be referenced using the Define system relative to any available unit operation or stream parameter calculated elsewhere in the simulation. See Stream Calculator Parameters Available for Cross-Referencing for more details.
