Column RATEFRAC Transport Calculation Methods

This window is used to select a suitable correlation for calculating Heat Transfer, Mass Transfer and Interfacial Area.

Heat Transfer

Check Correlation and Select Chilton - Colburn Correlation from drop down list to calculate Heat Transfer.

If the user-defined correlation is available to calculate Heat Transfer, check Subroutine and select the user defined correlation from the drop down list.

Mass Transfer

Check Correlation and select the appropriate correlation name from drop down list to calculate Mass Transfer.

If the user-defined correlation is available to calculate Mass Transfer, check Subroutine and select the user defined correlation from the drop down list.

Interfacial Area

Select any of the listed correlation to calculate Interfacial Area.

If the user-defined correlation is available to calculate Interfacial Area, check Subroutine and select the user defined correlation from the drop-down list.

RATEFRAC Enhancement Factors

The effect of reaction rates on mass transfer will be determined using the 'enhancement factors' in RATEFRAC. Enhancement factor increases or decreases the mass transfer coefficient of a component based on its values.  It can be provided for each component, on each tray for both the liquid and vapor phases. Its default value is 1.0, which has no effect on the mass transfer.  However, values greater than 1 increase the amount of mass transfer and values less than 1 decrease the amount of mass transfer.
