Column Flash Zones

This window is used to supply flash zone data for an I/O column. A flash zone may be defined for any side heater in the column and represents a single theoretical stage. This feature is especially useful when simulating fired heaters added to a tray.

Usage

From the Column Main Window, push the Heaters and Coolers button.

From the Column Side Heaters/Coolers Window, push the Flash Zones button.

Select the desired heater from the drop-down list box. The heater names are shown along with their corresponding tray numbers within parenthesis (e.g. "Heaterxx (Tray 10)" .) Three drop-down list boxes are displayed by default. To specify flash zones for additional heaters, use the Cut, Copy, Paste, Insert, and Reset buttons to add rows to the grid.

You can provide values for the following optional items in the data entry fields:

Fired Heater Efficiency - The default is 0.85.

Liquid Fraction Bypassing the Flash Zone - The default is 0.99.

Vapor Fraction Bypassing the Flash Zone - The default is 0.99.

Transfer Line Temperature Drop - The default is 0.0.
