Policy Segment Heat and Cool Actions

 

Define criteria for heating and cooling the batch reactor.

 

Usage

 

Operating Mode

Select the mode of operation from the drop down list box. You may select from the following combinations:

 

Apply duty: The specified duty will be applied until the segment ends or another Heating or Cooling action starts.

 

Apply duty to achieve temperature: The duty will be applied until the specified temperature is achieved.

 

Apply duty to achieve temperature difference: The duty will be applied until the temperature has changed by the specified amount.

 

Achieve temperature over a time period: Apply a duty which will give the specified reactor temperature at the end of the given time period.

 

Achieve temperature difference over a time period: Apply a duty which will give the specified change in reactor temperature at the end of the given time period.

 

Utility

Every Heating and Cooling action may be effected with or without the use of a utility. The default is using No utility. If you want to use a utility, select from the list of the utilities you defined in the Batch Reactor Utility Fluids Window.

 

Duty/Temperature/Temperature Difference/Time Period

The data required depends on the selected Operating Mode. You must supply the data values corresponding to the selected option.

 

The dimensional units for entries may be changed from the units shown on the screen by using the Unit of Measure Selection Window which is displayed when the UOM button is pushed.

 

How to get to this window

The Policy Segment Heat/Cool Action window is accessed by selecting the Heat or Cool action in the Batch Reactor Policy Segment Window and then clicking on the Condition... linked text.
