Stream Calculator Product Specifications
Use this window to specify the amount of each component in the overhead and bottoms products. The thermal condition of the products are defined in the Overhead Product Conditions Window and the Bottoms Product Conditions Window.
Usage
From the Stream Calculator Main Window, push the Product Specifications button to open this window.
In order to define the component splits, you must enter specifications which define how much of each component goes into either the overhead or the bottoms product. You may require several specifications to do this and you may specify the amount of some components in the overhead and others in the bottoms product. Each component must appear in one, and only one, specification.
See Generalized Performance Specification Overview for more information about working with linked-text specifications.
Specifications are entered in the table by clicking on the highlighted texts which are described below :
Spec1
The default reference name for the specification which may be replaced with a unique name.
Rate
The specification may be on:
The flow rate of the selected component(s) in the product
Recovery
The fractional recovery of the selected component(s) from the blended feed.
Composition
The composition of the selected component(s) in the product stream.
Concentration
The molar concentration or weight concentration of the selected component(s) in the product stream.
Components
Clicking on this text opens the Component Selections Window where you select the component, or range of contiguous components, for the specification.
Overhead product
This defines whether the specification is on the overhead or bottoms product. Click on the text to toggle the selection.
Value
Enter the numeric value of the rate, recovery or composition for the selected component(s) in the designated product.
Note: If you enter a composition specification for every component, PRO/II will give an input error because this does not completely define the split. You must specify at least one component rate or recovery in order to define the product flow rate.
Alternatively, instead of entering a numeric value for some of the parameters, they may be referenced using the Define system relative to any available unit operation or stream parameter calculated elsewhere in the simulation. See Stream Calculator Parameters Available for Cross-Referencing for more details.
