Overall Heat Leak

Heat leakage is spread evenly over all trays in a column. The data entry window allows separate entries for the condenser and the reboiler.

Usage

From the Column Main Window, push the Heaters and Coolers button.

From the Column Side Heaters/Coolers Window, push the Heat Leak button.

Activate the entry of heat leak data by checking the "Calculation with Heat Leak" selection.

Select the "Overall" heat leak specification option.

Enter values for the condenser and reboiler, if desired, in the fields provided. A negative value signifies a loss of heat, whereas a positive value signifies a heat gain.

Select either the "Per tray" or "Column" option and enter the appropriate overall heat leak value. Values entered for these overall options do not include the condenser and reboiler if specific values have been provided for the condenser and/or reboiler. If individual values are not supplied for the condenser or reboiler, they will be the same as for the other trays.
