Initial Vapor Rate Profile

Estimates for the net rate of vapor leaving specified trays in a distillation column are entered through this window. Net vapor rates do not include column side vapor products or column vapor pumparounds (bypasses).

Usage

From the Column Main Window, push the Initial Estimate button.

From the Column Initial Estimates Window, push the Net Vapor Rate button.

Enter the Net Vapor Profile data in the table provided. See Editing Tabular Data for further explanation on entry and editing of tabular data. The dimensional units for net vapor rates may be changed by using the Unit-Of-Measure Selection Window, which is displayed when the UOM button is pushed.

Additional information

If you wish, you can override all or part of the estimate data provided by the initial estimate generation method. Constant molar vapor flow is used to supply estimates for trays not supplied with estimates. Normally, either net liquid flows or net vapor flows are provided. When both are provided, care must be exercised that the supplied rates do not conflict.

When providing an estimated profile, at least three net vapor flows should be given:

1. Tray one : Corresponds to the column "overhead" product, even when it is liquid.

2. Tray two : Corresponds to the column "overhead' product plus the reflux.

3. Bottom tray : Corresponds to reboiler vapor for columns with reboilers; vapor feed for columns without reboilers.
