Rigorous Heat Exchanger - Pressure Drop Data
Use this window to enter data for tube side and shell side pressure drop. These data provide adjustment factors and/or override calculated values for the pressure drops. All the data items in this window have default values.
Usage
Tubeside and Shellside Pressure Drops
You may enter either a scale factor or a pressure drop for each side of the exchanger.
DP Scale Factor: Enter a value to be applied to the rigorously calculated pressure drop.
DP/Shell: Enter a value for pressure drop per shell to override the rigorously calculated pressure drop. The total pressure drop for the entire heat exchanger unit is calculated by multiplying this value by the number of shells in series.
DP/Unit: Enter a value for the total pressure drop for the entire heat exchanger unit to override the rigorously calculated pressure drop.
Shellside Pressure Drop Method
You may select the method to be used to calculate the shell side pressure drop. The options are "Bell" for the Bell-Delaware method and "Stream" for the stream analysis technique.
Tubeside Pressure Drop Method
You may select the method to be used to calculate the tube side pressure drop. The options are "BBM" for the Beggs-Brill-Moody method and "HEX5" for the method used in versions 7.1x and earlier.
How to get to this window
