Rigorous Heat Exchanger - Material Data

Use this window to enter data for tube and shell material properties. All the data items in this window have default values.

The default material is carbon steel. A different material may be selected for each side of the exchanger. Individual properties of the selected material may be overridden. Alternatively, you may define a "User Added Material" and supply its name and properties.

Usage

Material

Select a material for either side of the exchanger from lists which show the materials in the library listed in Rigorous Heat Exchanger - User’s Guide. Select User added Material to define your own material.

Name

Enter the name of your User defined Material.

Density

Enter a value of density for your User added Material or over-ride the value for the library material. Shell material density is used to calculate the weight of the unit.

Conductivity

Enter a value of conductivity for your User added Material or over-ride the value for the library material. Shell material does not contribute to heat transfer and its conductivity is not used in the calculations.
