Rigorous Heat Exchanger - Feeds and Products Data
Use this window to specify product stream data and thermodynamics. Parallel fields are available for the shell side and the tube side.
Usage
Feed Streams and Product Streams:
The feed and product streams to each side of the exchanger are displayed for information only. Change the feed and product streams by manipulating them directly on the main simulation PDF display. Each side of the exchanger may have any number of feed streams. If there is more than one feed stream to a side, the feeds to that side are mixed and flashed at the lowest feed stream pressure. Configuring more than one product to a side enables the Product Phases ... button for that side (see below).
Thermodynamic System:
You may select the thermodynamic system for each side of the exchanger from a list of systems as defined in the Thermodynamic Data Window.
Product Phases ...
Press this button to display the Product Phases Window that allows specifying the phase state of individual product streams. Each side of the exchanger may have up to four product streams. No two product streams may have the same phase. You may remove or add products on the Process Flow Diagram (PFD). If a side of the exchanger has only one product, the Product Phases button for that side is unavailable.
Attach to Column ...
Push this button to display the Attach to Column Window and select an internal stream of a column as a feed to this side of the exchanger. When there is no column in the flow sheet, this button is unavailable. To have the column determine the duty of the exchanger, select Rating as the Calculation Type.
How to get to this window
The Feeds and Products window is accessed by pushing the Feeds/Products button on the Rigorous Heat Exchanger Window.
