Conversion Reactor Data

Use this window to specify conversion reactor options and limits.

Usage

Exclude Heat Balance

This option is only available if the Fixed Temperature thermal specification is selected on the Conversion Reactor Main Window. Check the box to indicate that no heat of reaction should be calculated.

Temperature Limits

The minimum and maximum temperatures allowed for the reactor calculations may be entered if the Fixed Duty thermal specification is selected on the Conversion Reactor Main Window.

Relative Duty Tolerance

Specify the relative convergence tolerance for reactor duty calculation.

Error Action

If there is not sufficient quantity of reactants present for the specified conversion, the concentration of one or more component will become negative. This will normally cause an error. Click on the highlighted text and select the required action from the list. The options are:

Ø terminate the calculation - this is the default action

Ø continue the calculations with no reaction

Ø add makeup to satisfy the conversion

Ø limit the conversion to the maximum possible with the available reactants

Reaction Reference State

Click to select the reaction reference state.

Ideal Gas Enthalpy: Enthalpy is calculated using ideal gas enthalpy correlation at 298.15 K and 1 atm.

Reference Pressure: Enthalpy is calculated as per Thermodynamic set specified for the reactor. Vapor phase reactions consider 298.15 K &1atm pressure and liquid phase reactions consider 298.15 K & reactor outlet pressure as reference state.

How to get to this window
