Column Kinetic Reaction Data

Use this window to define the kinetic rate data for the selected reaction in a reactive distillation unit. Data entered here override any data entered in the Reaction Data - Reaction Kinetic Data Window for this unit operation only.

Usage

To open this window from the Column Reaction Definitions Window, select the Kinetic option for the Reaction Type and press the Enter Data button for the required reaction.

The equation and the names of the Reaction Set and Reaction are presented for information.

Note: The data in this window are directly applicable to the Power Law equation. If you are using a user-subroutine or in-line procedure to calculate the rates, values entered in this window will be passed to the calculation in the specified variables.

Kinetic Data

The selection for Kinetic Rate Calculation on the Column Reaction Definitions Window is shown for information. Either the power law equation or the selected subroutine or procedure name is displayed. Default values for the Pre-Exponential Factor, Activation Energy and Temperature Exponent are supplied from values defined in the Reaction Data - Reaction Kinetic Data Window.

Units

The temperature, weight, volume, pressure and time units defined in the Reaction Data - Reaction Kinetic Data Window for the rate equation are displayed as defaults. You may define different units to match your data by clicking on the highlighted text.

Reaction Order and Activity Basis

The defaults shown for the Default Phase and the Activity Basis are the selections in the Reaction Data - Reaction Kinetic Data Window.

To override the default reaction order or activity phase for individual components, press the Reaction Order & Activity Phase button which opens the Column Reaction Order and Activity Phase Window.
