Tray Efficiency Scale Factor
This value, when provided, is applied to all supplied tray efficiency values, excluding the reboiler and condenser trays which always have a tray efficiency of unity. When both vaporization and equilibrium efficiencies are provided, the scale factor is applied to the equilibrium efficiency only.
Further Explanation
For most operating columns, it is difficult to predict the tray efficiency values to apply to the actual trays to match the observed separations. The scale factor may be varied by a Controller to ratio a set of supplied tray efficiencies such that an observed separation criteria is met.
