Tag Server Connect Window

PRO/II is capable of maintaining direct communications with plant data historians and databases. This window offers the capabilities needed to establish and manage these connections.

Access

image\EDIT03.gif From the File menu, select Import Tag Data.

image\EDIT03.gif Choose From Server in the pop-out menu to open the Server Connect window.

Usage

Source Type

Choose the type of interface to use when making the connection. Refer to the Supported Interfaces topic for more information.

Select Server

Choose the appropriate server from the drop-down list box. Usually, all available servers will be listed. If the desired server is not in the list, type the server name directly in the entry box (i.e., in the box that displays when the list box is closed).

Time Slice

Enter the starting and ending date and time in the various boxes. This information will be used to select the data values to associate with each tag ID name.

Attempt to Connect to Server

Check this box to connect to the server. The connection is attempted after pressing the Apply button or the OK button. The connection will not be attempted when this box is not checked.

Note: If the connection attempt fails, the most likely cause is a missing dynamic link library (DLL). You may need to install a DLL file that acts as the PRO/II (client) side of the interface to the data server. Refer to Installing Interfaces for Tag Data Historians. .
