Plot Setup

Description

Use this command to set up preferences for plots. PRO/II displays plots using its internal Plot Viewer, or by another package that may be installed on the user’s system. Interfaces to the following 3rd-party packages also are configured when PRO/II is installed:

The SIMSCI Plot Viewer is a built-in utility that allows you to view and print a plot.

Microsoft Excel provides a complete set of formatting features. It allows users to change plot colors, axis titles, and other attributes to create a presentation-quality graph.

Gnuplot is a command-driven interactive function plotting program. It can be used to plot functions and data points in both two- and three-dimensional plots in many different formats. This program is copyrighted, but freely distributable. (The Microsoft Windows version is available via anonymous ftp (file transfer protocol) at the Internet address "oak.oakland.edu". The directory is pub/msdos/plot and the file is gpt35win.zip.)

Access

Choose Plot Setup on the Options menu to display the Plot Setup window.

Adding A New Driver

image\EDIT03.gif Press the New button in the Plot Setup window. This opens the New Plot Driver window.

image\EDIT03.gif Enter a name for the new driver in the Driver Name text field. Press OK to complete the action.

image\EDIT03.gif Continue with setting up the plot driver (below).

Setting Up the Plot Driver

The default options are set up for you when PRO/II is installed. To configure a new driver, or to reconfigure an installed driver, follow these steps.

image\EDIT03.gif Highlight the driver of interest in the drop down list box; then press the Setup button to display the Setup Plot Driver window. Note: You cannot reconfigure the "SimSci" Plot Viewer, but the other plot drivers are available.

The options in the Setup Plot Driver window are:

Driver File:  The complete path and filename of the dynamic link library (DLL) for the plot driver.

Driver Function: The function name to invoke the driver.

Command Line: The full command line to invoke the plotting application.

Options:  Additional driver-specific options.

Removing A Plot Driver

To permanently remove an installed plot driver from PRO/II, first highlight it in the drop-down list box; then press the Delete button. Pressing OK only removes the driver interface from PRO/II. It does not remove the driver application from your system.
