PFD Features

The following is a list of functionality available in the PFD Window. For more information on these features, refer to the detailed help topics on PFD Window elements or the PRO/II User's guide.

 

Windows Features

 

File Operations

New Open a new simulation problem

Open Open an existing simulation problem

Open AutoSaved File Opens AutoSaved Files Window

Close Close the current simulation problem

Save Save the current simulation problem

Save As Save the current simulation problem under a different name

Delete Delete the current simulation problem files

Copy Copy an existing simulation problem to a new problem

Import Import a PRO/II problem from a keyword file

Export Export a PRO/II problem to a keyword file

Run Batch Run simulations in batch mode

Print Print the flowsheet diagram on the PFD Window

Print Setup Select the printer configuration for printing the flowsheet diagram and results

Print Preview Click Print Preview to display the flowsheet as it will look when printed

Exit  Exit from PRO/II

 

Default Text Editor Select a text editor which will be used to view results, keyword file, etc.

Directory Structure Select the directories where you would like to store various PRO/II related files.

Default Font   Select the font which will be used to display all the text in all the windows

 

Help

 

Overview Help topic describing the functionality of each element of the main data entry window.

What Is? Enters help mode on the PFD window to obtain context-specific help on the elements of the window.

Context Sensitive Detailed help available for each element of the PFD window separately.

 

Drawing/ Editing

 

Multiple Views

Multiple view windows may be open on the flowsheet. Streams may be connected and units moved across windows.

 

Unit Operation Icon and Stream Appearance

Select/Deselect All Insert or remove the highlight box around all the unit operation icons and streams in the flowsheet diagram.

Delete Remove the selected units and streams from the flowsheet diagram

Rotate Rotate the selected unit operation icons by 90, 180, or 270 degrees.

Flip Obtain a mirror image of a unit operation icon by flipping it either horizontally or vertically

Restore Restore the size of the selected unit operation icons to its original size.

Align Text 

Reroute (streams) Change the existing connections of a stream

 

Texts, Lines, Polygons, and Ellipses

Add these figures to the flowsheet diagram without including them in the simulation execution.

 

Custom Unit and Stream icons and automatic numbering conventions

Select your choice of unit operation and stream appearance, and their default numbering in the flowsheet.

 

Drawing Preferences

Icon Palette

Select the appearance of the units operation palette by viewing both the unit's icon and name, or only the name

 

Zoom and Pan increments 

Select the amount of zoom and pan increments for both small and large choices

 

Miscellaneous Options 

 Select other confirm message boxes and tolerances for the PFD windows

 

Status Attributes

Select the line style, color, and thickness for the border around the window elements in their various data satisfaction types.

 

Redraw

Redraw the existing flowsheet diagram to remove any extraneous objects

 

100% View

View the entire flowsheet by zooming and/or panning the flowsheet diagram.

 

Navigation

Zooming

Reduce or enlarge the flowsheet diagram (zoom buttons or View menu).

 

Panning

Scroll the flowsheet vertically or horizontally (horizontal and vertical scroll bars).

 

Pan Window

Displays the entire flowsheet where it can be zoomed or panned on the PFD window.

 

Unit Operations List Window

Displays all the unit operations. Selecting one of them scrolls the flowsheet diagram such that the unit is at the center of the PFD window.

 

Stream List Window

Similar to the above operation, but operates on streams rather than unit operations.

 

Breakpoint Window

Select the unit operations where execution should pause.

 

Messages Window

Displays the units and recycle loops that have been solved during execution. Error and warning messages also appear here.
