Heat Leak Specification Modes

Heat leak data may be entered in an Overall mode or Tray by Tray mode. A negative sign is used to indicate a heat loss and a positive sign is used to indicate heat gain.

Overall Mode

For this mode, an overall heat leakage for the column must be given. The leakage may be supplied as a single value for the whole column or as the leakage for each tray. The heat leakage for the condenser and/or reboiler may also be entered directly. If the condenser and reboiler heat leaks are defined, they must not be included in the overall value.

Tray by Tray mode

Heat leakage data is provided for ranges of trays in the column using a tabular format. Values for the top and bottom trays are required. Missing values are determined using linear interpolation.
