Flash Stream
Use this command to perform a flash calculation on a selected stream. This operation provides a quick and easy method to check the stream conditions, and can be extremely useful whenever you want to adjust the composition and/or stream conditions to meet certain requirements. When this command is selected, the stream is flashed under the given input conditions and the results are displayed in the editor as specified under the Options/Editor menu.
Usage
Select (highlight)
the desired stream from the flowsheet and choose the Tool/Flash Stream
command. Alternatively, you can also push the
button from the Toolbar.
Thermo System
The thermodynamic system used for the flash calculations will be the global thermodynamic method selected in the Thermodynamic Data Window.
The selected stream must have all the necessary input data entered (for a product or connecting stream, the initial estimates must be supplied). If the data are incomplete and not sufficient for a flash calculation, an error message is displayed. When all the necessary data are present, PRO/II performs a flash calculation on the stream and the results are immediately displayed using the selected editor. You may then review the results and adjust the input data for the stream as necessary until the desired requirements are met.
The results of the flash calculation for a selected stream will write over any previously calculated results for that stream. If you want to preserve the results of a previous flash calculation, make a copy of the stream (see Stream Copy for more details) and perform the flash operation on this stream copy.
