Compressor Calculation Methods
PRO/II offers two types of compressor calculation methods to determine parameters such as isentropic coefficient, polytropic coefficient, polytropic efficiency and polytropic work. They are :
GPSA Engineering Data Book Method
This method is most commonly used in industry and is an option in PRO/II. PRO/II uses two different equations depending upon the compression ratio. If the compression ratio is lesser than the default value of 1.15, it uses the "GPSA Temperature equation." Above this value the "GPSA Head equation" is used.
ASME Method
The ASME Power Test Code 10 method is an analytic and more rigorous method, and is the default method in PRO/II. It tends to work well over a broader range of compression ratios and feed compositions than the GPSA method.
Usage
From the Compressor Main Window...
Push the Calculation Method icon button to display the Compressor Calculation Method Window.
From the Calculation Method Window...
Select the calculation method of your choice.
If you have selected the GPSA method, you can modify the compression ratio (which has a default value of 1.15), to make PRO/II use either the "Temperature equation" or the "Head equation."
