Side Columns Main Window
Side columns which have been laid down on the flowsheet and attached to a main column may have input supplied and/or be edited through this window. Note that the Side Column unit operation is always used to add side columns to the flowsheet.
Usage
The side column is added to the simulation flowsheet as a Side Column unit operation. See Side Column Unit Operation - Technical Information for further information on Side Columns.
The side column is connected to the main column with feed and product streams in the flowsheet. This window is similar to the Column Main Window with the buttons which do not apply to the Side Column not enabled.
Additional Information
Side Columns always use the same distillation algorithm as the main column.
Side Columns may only have vapor-liquid calculated phases.
Side Stripper Columns must have a liquid feed from the main column and return a vapor overhead product to the main column as a main column feed. Side strippers normally have a stripping medium feed to the bottom tray or a reboiler on the bottom tray. The product from a side stripper is the "bottoms" liquid product.
Side Rectifier Columns must have a vapor feed from the main column and the bottom liquid product must return to the main column as a main column feed. Side rectifiers normally have a condenser which returns liquid to the column. The product from a side rectifier is normally the "overhead" product.
