Column Print Options
Use this window to select additional report options for the current column, with the data tabulated by tray number.
Access
Each column in a simulation may have uniquely customized report options. There are two paths to the same Column Print Options window.
From the Column Main Window of a specific column, press the Print Options button.
Alternatively, from the Output menu, choose Report Format, then choose Unit Operations... That opens the Unit Operation Output Report Options window. Use the mouse to highlight a distillation column in the displayed unit operation list; then click the Print Options... button. This path may be useful for changing the options of several columns in a previously solved simulation.
When a column is added to the flowsheet through GUI, following column print options are checked on by default:
Molecular weights, Actual densities, Actual volumetric flowrates and transport properties
Flowing Enthalpies and standard liquid densities
Tray Loading Summaries (Except for Electrolytic algorithm)
KG Tower data in XML File
Compositions report on mole basis
Usage
Check the desired report options. Note that certain default choices are pre-selected and must be unchecked to deselect.
Column Summary
The column summary contains temperature, pressure, flowrates, duties for each tray, feed and product stream information, and the overall heat and material balances. By default, the flowrates are printed on a molar basis. An additional summary report with results in a weight, liquid volume, or gas volume basis can be printed by selecting the appropriate option.
Molecular Weights, Actual Densities, Actual Volumetric Flowrates and Transport Properties
This is the default option and includes the column summary described above plus the tray properties listed for each phase. Note that the Transport Properties are only reported when a Transport Property Method has been selected and are not available with the Liquid-Liquid algorithm.
Flowing Enthalpies and Standard Liquid Densities
This option adds to the reports generated in the default option above and is disabled if the default report is not requested. The properties in the option list are added to the default report.
Tray Efficiencies and/or Individual Component Tray Efficiencies
The tray and component efficiencies selected with the Column Tray Efficiency feature are listed. This report is only active for the Inside-Out and Chemical algorithms when tray efficiencies and/or component efficiencies have been supplied by the user.
Diagram of Temperature, Pressure, Molar Rates, Feed and Product Rates and Heater/Cooler Duties
This option generates a line printer diagram for the column which includes the temperatures, pressures, tray molar rates, feeds, products, and heater/cooler duties reported at the appropriate tray locations.
Component K-values
The equilibrium K-values are reported for every component for every tray in the column.
Tray Loading Summary
This report is not available for the Liquid-Liquid algorithm. A special report which includes vapor and liquid properties for each tray is generated. The properties presented are used for tray loading calculations and include transport properties. A transport property method must be selected for the problem.
KGTower Data in XML File
This option generates a report of the column in an xml file. The generated file can be imported into the KGTower program. A separate file is generated for each column that includes this print option. The file name is generated as:
simname_colID.xml
where:
simname is the name of the simulation, and
colID is the identifier of the column that generates the xml file.
For example, when using this option for a column identified as "COL1" in a simulation named "A4.prz" or "A4.INP", the name of the generated xml file would be "A4_COL1.xml".
Compositions Report
Individual tray compositions can be printed in a variety of bases by checking the desired options. The basis choices available are: molar, weight, liquid volume, and vapor volume.
RATEFRAC...
Click RATEFRAC... to bring up the RATEFRAC Print Options dialog box. Use this dialog box to declare the calculated parameters to include in the report.
Component Recovery Table
A table is generated which shows the percent of each component in the feed that is recovered in each column product. This report is useful for determining the component separation keys.
Plot Column Results button
Plots of the column results are specified in the Column Plot Options Window which is opened by pressing this button.
